TUCKPOINTING AND GRINDING

When you suspect your mortar is deteriorating and may need to be repaired, it’s time to call us for tuckpointing to bring your brickwork back to peak condition. Maintaining sound mortar joints is critical to the health of every masonry building. Over time, mortar joints crack, erode and weather due to swings in temperature, chronic water saturation from wind-driven rain, defects in the roof system and de-icing salts. Defective mortar joints allow water to infiltrate the wall.

Our tuckpointing team will grind or rake out the old mortar to the needed depth and replace it with new mortar.

When to Tuckpoint?

If you take a key and rub it against your mortar and the mortar becomes powdered material, tuckpointing is needed.

Why Tuckpoint?

Once a mortar is in a weakened condition, it causes moisture breakdown, and your structure will be prone to water penetration. Once tuckpointing is done properly, it provides a waterproof mortar joint and can withstand any weather conditions your structure may face.
